There are a few bits of news following last night’s 4-1 win over the Wild:
- Jonas Junland has been assigned to Peoria – this leaves the Blues roster standing at 27 players.
- Yan Stastny has cleared waivers and has been assigned to Peoria.
- Darryl Sydor has signed a one year contract with the Blues for $1million.
The signing of Sydor leaves Strachan and Pietrangelo battling for that one remaining place. It would make sense for the Blues to give Pietrangelo that 9 game trial again – I hope he makes the grade, it would make little sense for him to be sent down to Juniors again. I think he’s already proved that he’s better than that. The trouble is that Strachan has also played well – but at this point the Blues have gone for experience by signing Sydor. It makes sense in that the Blues defense IS relatively young and inexperienced – with no Brewer for the foreseeable future, they need someone to steady the ship and provide the necessary leadership back there.
Darryl Sydor – welcome to the Blues.
