Blues v Kings lineup

As expected, Patrik Berglund will sit tonight and Cam Janssen will make his season debut. The Blues lines tonight are:

Andy McDonald-David Backes-Paul Kariya
Brad Winchester-Keith Tkachuk-Brad Boyes
David Perron-T.J. Oshie-Cam Janssen
Alex Steen-Jay McClement-B.J. Crombeen

Darryl Sydor-Roman Polak
Erik Johnson-Alex Pietrangelo
Carlo Colaiacovo-Mike Weaver

Chris Mason

It’s interesting that Janssen has been put on a line with Oshie and Perron. We’ll assume Oshie is playing Center. Reports from Training Camp suggested that Janssen had been working on his stickwork and puck handling – I guess tonight’s game is a good test. Janssen will bring energy and toughness and the knock on Berglund has been his lack of intensity and basic ineffectiveness. Lack of intensity is something you can’t accuse Janssen of.

Rookie Alex Pietrangelo gets his first game tonight – due to the injury to Barrat Jackman. I’m surprised he’s paired with EJ. I thought he might have been paired up with a more experienced D-man but I guess Andy Murray has seen things that make this pairing work. We’re going into tonight’s game with a very inexperienced defense corps – against a Kings team that have scored 15 goals in 3 games.

Best of luck to Pietrangelo tonight – I’d like to see him stay with the Blues for the season and not be sent back to Juniors. Let’s hope Cam Janssen makes the most of his opportunity as well – you never know…with Janssen on a line with Oshie and Perron, will he be in a position to grab his second goal for the Blues? Personally, I’m not going to bet against it.
