The Blues announced today that Head Coach, Andy Murray, has been relieved of his duties.  This follows an abysmal home run of games.

Davis Payne has been named Interim Head Coach.  Payne had been with the Peoria Rivermen and was the 2006-1007 ECHL Coach of the Year.  John Davidson had this to say:

“Davis is very knowledgeable of the players in our organization and we feel he is the best candidate to coach our team,” said Davidson. “He has nine winning seasons at the minor league level which includes an ECHL Championship in 2006.”

“I would like to thank Andy Murray for the job he has done here the past four seasons,” continued Davidson. “He was an intergral part in turning the St. Louis Blues around. He is a true professional and I wish him the best of luck in the future.”

Andy Murray has done a sterling job in bringing the team forward and developing the youngsters  and this site would like to wish him luck in future endeavours.

The Blues definitely played with greater intensity this evening against the Blackhawks, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough for a victory. But I did like their energy! GO BLUES!

Agreed – their energy, passion and intensity was terrific. And I loved that open ice hit from Mike Weaver on Patrick Sharp!
