And so it continues.  The Blues won their third consecutive game for the first time this season – it was also their first back to back win on home ice.  This really was a game for the goalies though.  Chris Mason picked up his first shutout of the season by saving 19 shots and Wild goalie, Josh Harding, saved 36 out of 37.

As the shot count will tell you, the Blues definitely had the upper hand throughout the game – and the deadlock was finally broken early in the third period.  TJ Oshie’s shot from near the point went in off the post for the only goal of the game.  The Blues blocked 13 Wild shots and broke Minnesota’s four game winning streak.  After becoming known as a team that folds in the final period, the Blues haven’t allowed a third period goal in their last two games.  Small steps maybe…but that’s always how it starts.

Your game reports:

  • The Blues Official Site has the game recap plus highlights and interviews with Chris Mason, Mike Weaver and Davis Payne.
  • St Louis Game Time break down the game in their own, very inimitable way.
  • Jeremy Rutherford of the Post Dispatch recaps the game with comments from Eric Brewer, Chris Mason, TJ Oshie, Erik Johnson, Mike Weaver and Davis Payne.

In other news, the Blues have today reassigned Derek Armstrong to Peoria – look for the recovering DJ King to go to Peoria on a conditioning assignment.
